Insurance & Fuel

Why your car gets impounded, how to get it back, and how fuel and refuelling actually work.

Insurance

Every vehicle on the server has an insurance status. There are three states:

  • Insured — fully covered. Crashes, abandons, and impounds all retrieve through your insurance broker for a flat fee.
  • Lapsed — coverage expired. The car still drives, but if it's impounded you pay the full impound rate to retrieve.
  • Uninsured — the car was never covered. Same as lapsed, plus your insurer won't sell you new coverage on this vehicle until it's inspected.

Buying a vehicle from a dealer comes with one month of basic insurance included. After that, premiums renew weekly via direct debit from your bank.

Tip

Cars from the player-to-player listing system don't automatically transfer insurance — you'll buy it standalone at any insurance office.

Impound

Vehicles get impounded for a handful of reasons:

Reason Triggered by
Abandoned Left unattended in a public spot for ~30 minutes
Illegal parking Towed by police via /tow
Collision damage EMS call-out where the wreck is hauled
Crime scene Police request following a shooting / chase

To recover an impounded vehicle:

  1. Drive (or get a ride) to the Mission Row Impound Lot.
  2. Open the impound terminal in the office.
  3. Pick your vehicle from the list. Insured vehicles show a discounted rate.
  4. Pay (cash or card). Vehicle is dropped at the impound exit gate.
Important

Don't /spawncar an impounded vehicle from the public garage — the impound flag is what's blocking it. You have to go through the lot.

Fuel

Every vehicle has a fuel tank that drains as you drive. The tank size scales with the vehicle class — a sports car burns through fuel faster than a sedan.

Fuel UI: a small bar in the bottom-right when you're behind the wheel. It turns yellow at ~25%, red at ~10%.

Refuelling

  1. Pull up to a fuel station (icon on the map). Most pumps are usable; broken ones are visibly damaged.
  2. Step out, approach the pump, press E at the prompt.
  3. Pick a fuel amount — partial fills are allowed.
  4. Pay (cash or card).

Some stations have a convenience store attached — same building, separate marker. Snacks, drinks, basic supplies.

Running out

A vehicle that runs out of fuel coasts to a stop and won't restart until refuelled. You can:

  • Walk to the nearest station — bring a fuel can. (Buy one at any 24/7 store.)
  • Call a mechanic via /911 non-emergency — most will tow you for a fee.
  • Get pushed — another player can push your vehicle in slow first gear.
Caution

Vehicles abandoned with empty tanks are still subject to the 30-minute impound timer. Don't park-and-forget on the side of the highway.
