Welcome to Roleplay Project

Brand new? Start here. Connect to the server, create your account, get into character.

Roleplay Project is a text-based GTA V roleplay server running on RAGE Multiplayer. The core idea: every interaction is in-character, every consequence sticks, every story is shaped by the people you meet.

What you need

  • A legitimate copy of Grand Theft Auto V on PC.
  • The RAGE Multiplayer client — free, download here.
  • A keyboard with at least a basic working understanding of English; everything in-character is text.

Connecting

Once RAGEMP is installed:

  1. Launch RAGEMP (it'll patch GTA V the first time — leave it to finish).
  2. Click Direct Connect.
  3. Enter play.roleplayproject.net:22005.
  4. Press Connect.

The first connection downloads our server's modded assets. It's a one-time download (~a few hundred MB) — subsequent connections are quick.

First-time account setup

When you connect for the first time, you'll be walked through:

  • Account creation — pick a username and password. The username is your out-of-character identity; you'll use it on the website's UCP and in our forum.
  • Email verification — we'll send a 6-digit code to confirm your address. Check spam if it doesn't arrive within a minute. Codes expire in 10 minutes.
  • Character creation — name, gender, appearance, backstory. Take your time on the backstory; it shapes how staff and other players engage with you.

After that you'll spawn at the LSIA arrivals area with a small starter cash balance and a phone in your inventory.

What to do first

  • Press F1 to view a starter help overlay.
  • Press M to open your phone — your in-game contacts list, banking app, and messaging.
  • Use /help in chat any time for a list of commands.
  • Walk to a 24/7 store and look at the door prompt — most interactables show a "Press E to…" overlay when you're close enough.

Roleplay basics

  • Always stay in-character unless you're using OOC commands like /b (local OOC) or /pm (private OOC).
  • /me <action> for actions: /me lights a cigarette and exhales slowly.
  • /do <description> for narrating something a player can't see otherwise: /do The bag contains roughly $400 in cash.
  • /b <message> for short OOC asides — keep these brief and only when needed.

A full command reference lives in Roleplay → Commands.

When you're stuck

  • Server bugs: /report to flag a bug or /admin for live admin help.
  • OOC questions: Discord — #help channel.
  • Game-mechanics question: browse these docs first; the system you're using probably has its own page.

Welcome. Have fun. Don't break character.
