The phone

Open with M. Contacts, SMS, calls, and the apps that live inside it.

Press M to open your phone. Press M again (or click the close button) to put it away.

The phone is your day-to-day in-character interface — contacts, SMS, calls, banking, and a handful of utility apps.

Pre-requisites

You must own a phone item to open it. New characters spawn with one already; if you lose yours (death + body looted) you can buy a replacement at any 24/7 or electronics store.

If pressing M produces a "you don't have a phone" message, that's why.

Apps

The phone home screen includes:

  • Messages — SMS to other characters' numbers.
  • Contacts — saved numbers with names. Search-as-you-type.
  • Phone (dialer) — for voice calls.
  • Wallet — banking app: balance, recent transactions, transfer.
  • Settings — ringtone, volume, signal strength readout.
  • Bleeter — short-form social posts (the in-game equivalent of Twitter).
  • News — Weazel News briefings.
  • Friends — out-of-character friends list (separate from contacts).
  • Inbox — admin notifications and newsletters.

You can rearrange app icons on the home screen via long-press / drag.

Numbers

Every character gets a randomly-assigned phone number on creation. View yours at the top of the dialer or in settings. You can change it once for $250 from the carrier kiosk at any 24/7 store; further changes after that escalate in price.

SMS

  • Tap Messages+ → enter recipient number → write → send.
  • Length cap is 320 characters per message.
  • Group chats supported up to 8 participants — each member sees every message.
  • SMS is logged and visible to police via the MDC if a warrant is granted.

Calls

  • Tap a contact or dial directly.
  • Both ends hear a ringtone; pick up or decline as the recipient.
  • Voice happens out-of-game (no built-in voice yet) — by convention, calls happen via Discord or a roleplay text proxy with /call chat.

Signal strength

Signal varies by location. Some remote spots (deep mountains, underwater) drop you to no signal — calls fail and SMS queues until you're back in range.

Signal strength shows in the phone's top-right corner.

Lock & ringtone

Set a custom ringtone via Settings → Ringtone → pick from the included library.

The phone can be locked with a 4-digit PIN (Settings → Security). Lost PIN? /forgotpin from a 24/7 store lets you reset it for a fee + an in-game cooldown.

Command What it does
/phone or /ph Same as pressing M.
/setringtone <id> Quick set without opening the phone.
/forgotpin Reset your PIN at a 24/7.
/myphone Display your number in chat (useful for sharing).
