Hair, Tattoos & Wardrobe
Where to change your look — barber, tattoo studio, plastic surgeon, clothing stores. What persists across outfits and what doesn't.
Your character's appearance is split across a few separate systems that all live on different vendors in the city.
Barber — hair, beard, eyebrows, hair colour
Find a Herr Kutz Barber (icon on the map). Walking into the marker opens the barber UI:
- Hair style (men and women have different catalogues)
- Hair colour + highlight colour
- Eyebrows + brow colour
- Facial hair (men) or none
Hair changes survive every outfit and clothing swap. The barber is also the only place to fully bald or shave a beard cleanly.
Tattoo studio — permanent body ink
The tattoo studio offers a full catalogue of GTA V vanilla tattoos plus DLC packs. Tattoos are permanent across every outfit, including /nude — they're stored separately from clothing and re-applied every time the engine touches your model.
Tattoos cost per piece. Removing a tattoo is the same studio, with a separate "remove" action that costs about half the original price.
Tattoos visible only in certain clothing (chest tattoos under shirts, sleeve tattoos under jackets) still render correctly — they're on the body, not painted on top of clothing.
Plastic surgery — facial features
Plastic surgeons (Pillbox, Mt Zonah) let you adjust:
- Face shape (chin, cheeks, jaw, brow)
- Nose, ears, lips
- Skin tone
This is the only way to undo bad heritage choices from character creation. It's expensive and the menu is dense — bring a photo reference of where you want to end up.
Plastic surgery does not change your character's identity in-character — your name, ID, fingerprints, etc. all stay the same. Other characters might recognise you depending on how dramatic the change is.
Wardrobe — clothing & outfits
Press the assigned wardrobe key (default C) at any clothing store to open the wardrobe panel. From here:
- Browse and buy clothing across every component slot (tops, undershirt, pants, shoes, hats, glasses, watches, etc.)
- Save outfits to one of 60 slots — full presets you can re-equip later from anywhere via
/outfits - Toggle individual slots off temporarily —
/hat,/glasses,/shirt,/pantsall hide that one slot until toggled back on
Outfits include every clothing slot but not hair, tattoos, or facial features. Saving an outfit and loading it later swaps your clothes in one click.
What persists where
| Change | Persists across |
|---|---|
| Hair / hair colour | Every outfit, /nude, death, relog |
| Tattoos | Every outfit, /nude, death, relog |
| Facial features | Every outfit, death, relog |
| Clothing | Until you change clothes |
| Saved outfits | Stored on your character forever |
Death does not wipe your appearance. The hospital reset only affects health and inventory.
