Psilocybin mushrooms: a six-stage lifecycle.
Mushrooms are command-driven from start to finish, every transition is something you actively trigger. The full pipeline is sterilise → inoculate → colonise (1 hour wait) → mist (recurring) → harvest (up to 3 flushes per cake) → dry. End-to-end: roughly 3 to 4 hours for the first flush; the second and third roll in over the following hours. No addiction, no overdose, $55/g baseline.
The lifecycle
One command per transition
Sterilise, /sterilizejar
Hold 1× grain_jar. Heat minigame, hold inside a temperature window. 18-second deadline, 12 successful holds. Output: 1× substrate_sterile stamped with your minigame score.
Inoculate, /inoculate
Hold 1× substrate_sterile + 1× spore_syringe. Inject minigame, syringe aim, 10-second deadline, 6 hits. Output: 1× substrate_inoculated. If the spore syringe is branded, the strain metadata follows the cake all the way to harvest.
Colonise, wait then /checkcake
Walk away for 60 minutes. Come back and run /checkcake. If the timer has elapsed, you get 1× mushroom_cake, ready for fruiting.
Maintain, /mistcake
Re-mist the cake every 5 minutes or so (the command is debounced to 5-minute intervals). Mist doesn't produce anything, it just keeps the contamination risk down. In the current implementation, contamination is a Phase-6 hook; for now /mistcake is good roleplay practice and future-proofs against the risk going live.
Harvest flushes, /harvestflush
Once the cake is ready, /harvestflush picks one flush of fresh mushrooms. ~12 fresh mushrooms per flush, 3 flushes per cake, that's a cap of 36 fresh per cake. Flushes regenerate roughly every 3 hours.
Dry, /drymushrooms
Fresh mushrooms can't be sold or consumed. /drymushrooms starts a 30-minute passive dry. Final output: ~5× shrooms_dried per harvest unit. Quality tier is preserved.
Output & pricing
One cake, three flushes, roughly 180× dried
If each flush gives 12 fresh and each fresh dries to ~5 dried, one cake yields about 180× shrooms_dried across the full 3-flush cycle. At $55/g baseline, that's a four-figure return per cake at premium quality, assuming you can move the volume.
Mushrooms have no addiction tier, so repeat consumers don't build tolerance, good for steady customer relationships. The trade-off is the long pipeline: you can't bang out a 1-hour batch the way you can with meth.
