How to stay alive (and what to do if you don't).
Roleplay Project has a detailed injury and bleed system, weapon licensing, a wanted / prison loop, forensic evidence, pets you can train, wildlife you can hunt, and a permanent criminal record. This page is your survival guide. Read it before you get shot.
Health & injuries
Hits land in body zones, each bleeds at its own rate
You start with 100 HP. Taking damage (gunshots, blunt force, stabs, burns) wounds specific zones: head, neck, chest, abdomen, limbs. Wounded zones bleed every 5 seconds, draining HP until treated.
| Zone | Severity multiplier | Instant-death chance (critical GSW) |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 1.5x | 40% |
| Neck | 1.2x | 30% |
| Chest | 1.0x | 5% |
| Abdomen / limbs | 0.3 to 0.7x | Low |
Within a wound, severity also matters: minor 0.3x, moderate 0.7x, severe 1.2x, critical 2.0x. A critical headshot can skip the downed state and kill you outright: no time for EMS.
Bandages slow the bleed. Hospital is the only real fix.
Bandage yourself (or get bandaged) to slow the rate. Minor wounds clot naturally in 10 minutes. Moderate in 20. Severe and critical do not clot without hospital treatment. Treatment costs $50 to $2,000 depending on injury, with GSW treatment usually $500 to $2,000. If you can't pay upfront, an invoice goes to your property paperwork; pay it later or it goes to collections.
Death & respawn
HP hits 0: you're downed. Five minutes to bleed out.
Downed means lying on the ground, unable to act. EMS rank 2+ can revive you to 50 HP with /helpup. You can call EMS from your phone, lie still, and hope.
If no one shows up, the bleed-out window is 5 minutes. After that you transition from "downed" to dead. Then your only options are:
/respawnat the nearest hospital. Costs $500 transport + treatment, deducted from bank (invoice if you can't pay)./acceptif you'd rather respawn immediately than wait for EMS.
Your body drops everything except your phone
When you die, your inventory drops into your corpse as lootable items. You keep your phone. Everything else is fair game once the body is lootable.
The corpse stays in the world for ~15 minutes. EMS have priority looting in the first 5; after that anyone can search the body. If nobody collects you, the body despawns and you auto-respawn at hospital.
PK (Player Kill) vs CK (Character Kill) is tracked on the corpse. CK is permanent: that character is dead, full stop. Read the rules for when each applies.
Inventory and carry weight
25 kg base, more with bags
| Container | Extra weight |
|---|---|
| Pocket (base) | 25 kg |
| Fanny pack | +8 kg |
| Backpack | +25 kg |
| Duffel bag | +40 kg |
Max 60 item slots regardless of weight. If you're at the weight limit, pickup and transfer fail.
/drop item quantity drops on the ground. /give playerId item quantity hands to a nearby player. Dropped items stay in the world for others to pick up.
Weapons and licences
Four tiers, each gated by playtime + exam
You cannot legally buy any firearm without an FSC (Firearm Safety Certificate). Higher tiers require playtime, an exam, and a processing window. Fail an exam: 24-hour cooldown before retake.
| Licence | Cost | Playtime | Processing |
|---|---|---|---|
| FSC (Safety Certificate) | $200 | 3 hours | None |
| Handgun | $1,500 | 10 hours | 72 hours |
| Long Gun | $5,000 | 25 hours | 7 days |
| Special Weapons | $25,000 | 60 hours | 14 days |
Every legal firearm has a serial number traceable to you. Police see it in the MDC. Black-market guns have no serial (untraceable, illegal to possess). Buying or selling without a licence is a criminal charge. Criminal conviction can suspend your licence.
Crime, fines, prison
Get caught: cuffed, charged, plead.
Commit a crime in front of police or a witness and you generate a wanted level. Police can pursue, cuff, search, and arrest. Get arrested and you're transported to MRPD, then to prison. There you enter a plea:
- Guilty: immediate sentence, reduced time.
- Not guilty: goes to trial. Evidence and officer testimony decide.
Sentences range $500 to $5,000+ in fines, plus prison time scaled by charge:
| Tier | Time per charge |
|---|---|
| Misdemeanor | 5 to 60 minutes |
| Felony | 60 to 300+ minutes |
| Murder (example) | 120+ minutes |
Prison ticks down 1 minute every real-time minute. At 0 you're released to the prison gate.
Records are public and permanent
Every conviction enters your criminal record. Visible to all law enforcement via the MDC. You cannot expunge it. Affects future gun licences, loans, certain jobs, and how cops treat you on the next stop.
Warrants don't expire. Log off while wanted and the warrant is still there when you log back in. Resisting arrest adds extra charges.
Pay a ticket: /pay-ticket id. Post bail: /bail amount. Enter a plea from prison: /plead guilty or /plead not guilty.
Evidence
Prints, DNA, shell casings: all logged
On arrest, police take your fingerprints and DNA. They go into the registry. Future crime scenes where your prints match link you to that crime, even years later. Shell casings tie a registered gun back to you. Gloves reduce print transfer but don't eliminate it. Suppressors reduce casing evidence.
You can be convicted without eyewitnesses if forensics are clean. Plan accordingly.
Fitness
No hunger or thirst. Fitness affects stamina & punch.
Roleplay Project does not have a starvation system. You don't need to eat or sleep to survive. Food restores small amounts of HP; that's all.
What you can train is fitness. Visit a gym, run /gym, pick an exercise (bench, deadlift, pull-ups, boxing, treadmill). Each session is 10 to 30 minutes and earns fitness points (level 1 to 100). Higher fitness = more max stamina (up to +100), lower stamina drain when sprinting, faster regen, and harder unarmed punches.
Skip the gym for 14 days and fitness decays by 4 points per cycle. Use it or lose it.
Weather & time
LA weather, real-time clock
Weather updates every hour, time syncs to the real-world clock minute-by-minute. Conditions follow LA's seasonal patterns: hot and clear in summer (48 to 100°F), cool and occasional rain in winter. Possible states: extra sunny, clear, cloudy, overcast, rain, thunder, fog, smog.
Rain slightly degrades aim, that's about it. Weather is mostly atmospheric. /weather shows current conditions.
Pets
Adopt a dog. Up to 3 per character.
Visit the pet shop at (562, 2741). /dog adopt breedname to buy.
| Breed | Rarity | Price |
|---|---|---|
| German Shepherd | Rare | $5,000 |
| Husky | Rare | $4,500 |
| Retriever | Uncommon | $4,500 |
| Rottweiler | Uncommon | $4,000 |
| Poodle | Common | $3,500 |
| West Highland Terrier | Common | $3,000 |
Pets spawn with you, follow you around, emit idle /me actions (tail wagging, sniffing) every 45 to 90 seconds. /dog train (30s cooldown) earns XP. Tricks unlock by level: sit at 10, shake at 25, bark at 40. No hunger or health: they're cosmetic companions.
Wildlife & hunting
12 zones of animals, behaviour and ecosystem
Wildlife zones cover Paleto Forest, Raton Canyon, Sandy Shores Desert, Grapeseed Valley, and 8 others. Animals spawn in their territory with behaviour profiles: flighty (flee), aggressive (attack), passive (ignore), predator (hunt prey). Predators hunt prey for real.
| Animal | HP | Pelt / meat value |
|---|---|---|
| Deer | 120 | $250 |
| Boar | 180 | $200 |
| Coyote | 90 | $150 |
| Mountain Lion | 320 | $400 |
| Rabbit | 50 | $50 |
| Hawk | 60 | $75 |
Kill, loot the carcass (counts toward your weight limit), take it to the Paleto Butcher NPC. They run a minigame to convert the carcass into meat (venison, pork, predator, rabbit, game bird) and pelts. Sell to a fence or use the meat for cooking. Mountain lions fight back.
First-night checklist
Do these in order
- Buy a phone ($200) and a Basic contract ($30/mo).
- Buy a fanny pack or backpack from a 24/7. Inventory weight is your bottleneck.
- Pick up trash routes from Davis Waste Management until you've got $1,000+ in cash.
- Open a Fleeca account at any ATM, set a PIN, transfer your cash to bank for safety.
- Get your FSC ($200) if you want to carry a legal firearm later.
- Get a Class C driving licence ($150 written + $300 practical).
- Save up for a vehicle, then for rent.
- Read the rules. Knowing the mechanics doesn't override roleplay quality requirements.
