Where the money is, and where it goes.
Every character gets a Fleeca Bank account automatically. Cash and bank are two separate pools: you carry cash on your person, but your bank balance is what shops, taxes, and payroll touch. This page covers the money loop from paycheck to ATM to stock market to your business.
Cash vs bank
Two pools, totally separate
Cash is what you're physically carrying. If you get robbed, mugged, or killed, the cash is on your body. Your bank balance is safe in the account: it doesn't drop on death. Shops mostly take cash; rent, mortgages, tax, and paychecks all touch bank. Move money between the two at an ATM or branch.
ATMs and Fleeca branches
12 ATMs across LS and Blaine County
Walk up to any ATM. Your card is auto-issued the first time. Set a 4-digit PIN. From there you can:
- Withdraw bank to cash (no daily limit, but your inventory weight will stop you carrying a brick of cash)
- Deposit cash to bank
- Transfer to another character by first/last name (no fee)
- View balance and history (last 15 transactions; 20 at a branch)
Fleeca branches in Downtown LS and Rockford Hills do everything ATMs do, plus you can report a lost card for a $25 replacement fee.
| Action | Fee |
|---|---|
| ATM withdrawal / deposit | $0 |
| Transfer to another character | $0 |
| Lost card replacement | $25 |
| PIN change | $0 |
Watch out: anyone holding your card can drain your account. If yours gets stolen, get to a branch fast and report it.
Paychecks
Paid monthly on the 1st
Pay is deposited directly to your bank. Income tax (10%) is taken before you see it. You get a toast notification and an email with the payslip breakdown.
| Status | Gross pay | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Unemployed | $2,000 / month | State benefits, automatic |
| Faction or company member | $5,000 / month | Base; faction rank salary and company salary stack on top |
| Faction rank salary | $400 to $3,200 | See the factions page for rank tables |
| Company salary | Up to $100,000 | Set by company owner per rank; only pays if company bank can afford it |
| Income tax | 10% | Withheld from gross before deposit |
Worked example: $5,000 base + $1,000 faction salary = $6,000 gross. Tax takes $600. You see $5,400 in your bank.
If your company can't make payroll one month (bank balance too low), employees just don't get the company portion that month: there's no overdraft.
Tax
Three flavours: income, sales, property
| Tax | Rate | When |
|---|---|---|
| Income tax | 10% | Off every paycheck |
| Sales tax | 7.5% | On top of every 24/7, ammo, and hardware store purchase (clothing is exempt) |
| Property tax (house) | 2% of value / month | Auto-deducted from bank |
| Property tax (vehicle) | 1.5% of value / month | Auto-deducted from bank |
| Property tax (apartment) | 0% | You don't own them, you rent |
All collected tax flows into the City Government treasury, which is what funds the Mayor's budget and council operations. Rates can change if government policy changes them.
Stock market
25 stocks, 7 sectors, real volatility
Open the Stocks app on your phone. You see all 25 listed companies across Technology, Energy, Finance, Defense, Retail, Transportation, and Entertainment. For each: live price, today's % change, day high and low, volume.
Buying spends from your bank balance. Selling puts the proceeds back in bank. No trading fees, ever.
| Mechanic | Number |
|---|---|
| Price update interval | Every 5 to 12 minutes |
| Max single-tick move | 12% |
| Volatility multiplier | 3x base for swing feel |
| Trend decay per tick | 88% |
| Company news interval | Every 10 to 25 minutes |
| Market-wide event interval | Every 45 to 90 minutes |
| News duration | 30 to 90 minutes |
News events drive most of the action. A "Federal Reserve cuts rates" headline pushes the whole market. "ACME Corp announces product line" pushes ACME and correlated retail/tech names. Watch the news feed for entries.
Your portfolio tracks total shares, average buy price, current value, and profit/loss per holding. Don't expect sustained rallies: the trend-decay is aggressive (88% per tick), and mean reversion kicks in hard once a stock is 50%+ away from its base. Buy news, take profits, don't get married to a position.
Shops
Five categories of retail
All shops take cash on hand (not bank). Carry a wad before you start a shopping trip.
| Shop type | Count | Sales tax | Sample prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24/7 convenience stores | 12 | 7.5% | Water $2, sandwich $8, phone $200, repair kit $150, backpack $80 |
| Clothing | 8 | None | T-shirt $15 to $40, jeans $25 to $70, sneakers $40 to $110 |
| Barbers | Multiple | None | Haircut $20 to $45, hair colour $10 to $25 |
| Tattoo parlours | Multiple | None | Per design |
| DIY / hardware | Multiple | 7.5% | Spray can $8, lockpick $75, jackhammer $2,500, alarm kit $500 |
Wearable bags (fanny pack $30, backpack $80, duffel $150) raise your inventory carry weight. Buy one early. They pay for themselves the first time you can carry a full grocery run home.
Owning a company
Four legal structures
Run /company create, pick a structure, pay the registration fee in cash. You get a company bank account and a company number. From there you set up ranks (with custom permissions and salaries), invite employees, and start trading.
| Type | Registration | Max members | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sole proprietorship | $226 | 1 | Solo trader |
| Partnership | $546 | 5 | Small team |
| LLC | $2,070 | 10 | Medium business |
| Corporation | $3,900 | Unlimited | Large operation |
Company bank account starts at $0. Members with the right permission can deposit, withdraw, or view the balance. Ranks hold permissions (invite, kick, promote, view balance, deposit, withdraw, use company vehicles, access company stash) and a monthly salary (max $100,000 per rank).
Licenses unlock business features (fuel stations, restaurants, logistics, etc.). $500 to $1,000 each, one-time. Once licensed, the feature stays unlocked as long as you own the company.
Worth knowing: founders don't auto-get an "owner" rank. Set ranks and permissions yourself before you invite anyone. And if the company bank can't cover payroll on the 1st, salaries don't pay that month, full stop. No overdraft.
