Overview
There are three ways to earn money through jobs: trash collection (anyone can do it), shipping contracts (requires a company with a logistics license), and Uber driving (through the phone app). No level requirements, no cooldowns between jobs. Pick what suits you and get to work.
Job Types at a Glance
- Trash Collection — Walk up to a depot, grab a truck, collect trash bags along a route. Simple and available to everyone from the start.
- Shipping Contracts — Pick up cargo and deliver it across the city. You need to be in a company that holds a logistics license.
- Uber Driving — Open the phone app, go online, and accept rides from NPCs or real players. You need a vehicle with at least 3 seats.
If you are brand new, start with trash collection. It requires nothing but showing up, and you will learn your way around the city while earning steady cash.
Trash Collection
Trash collection is the simplest job available. No vehicle needed, no company membership, no prerequisites. Just go to a depot and start working.
There are two depots in the city:
- Davis Waste Management — located in south Los Santos
- East LS Sanitation — located in east Los Santos
Both depots are marked on the map with green blips, so they are easy to find. Walk up to the depot marker and type /startjob trash to get started. A trash truck will spawn for you automatically.
Each depot has its own set of routes. If there is a specific route you want to run, make sure you are at the right depot for it.
Trash Routes
There are eight routes spread across the two depots. Each route covers a different neighbourhood, has a set number of stops, and pays a fixed amount on completion.
| Route | Name | Depot | Stops | Pay |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Strawberry | Davis | 8 | $350 |
| 2 | Davis | Davis | 8 | $330 |
| 3 | Vespucci Beach | Davis | 9 | $400 |
| 4 | Little Seoul | Davis | 9 | $380 |
| 5 | Downtown | Davis | 10 | $450 |
| 6 | Vinewood Blvd | East LS | 9 | $420 |
| 7 | Mirror Park | East LS | 8 | $370 |
| 8 | La Mesa | East LS | 9 | $390 |
You can pick a specific route by adding the route number: /startjob trash 5. Leave the number out and you will get a random route from that depot. Routes 1 through 5 are only available from Davis, and routes 6 through 8 are only available from East LS.
Route 5 (Downtown) pays the most at $450 but has 10 stops. If you want something quicker, route 1 (Strawberry) has only 8 stops and still pays $350.
How Trash Jobs Work
Here is the step-by-step process from start to finish:
- Go to a depot (Davis or East LS) and type
/startjob trash [routeId]. - A trash truck spawns for you. Get in it.
- Follow the GPS marker to each stop along the route.
- Get out of the truck near the trash bag marker and press E to pick it up.
- Walk back to the truck and press E again to deposit the bag.
- Repeat for all stops on the route.
- Once you finish the last stop, your cash is added directly to your pocket.
If you quit early with /quitjob, you get no pay at all. You have to finish the entire route to receive your earnings.
There is no cooldown between jobs. As soon as you finish one route, you can walk back to the depot and start another one right away.
Shipping Contracts
Shipping contracts are a step up from trash collection. They pay more, but you need to meet a few requirements first:
- You must be a member of a company.
- Your company must hold a logistics license.
- You must be driving a company vehicle.
Once all three conditions are met, type /shipping to open the contract board. You will see 4 to 6 random contracts to choose from.
If none of the available contracts look good, you can close the board and open it again later. The contracts refresh, so you might get better options next time.
Contract Details
Every shipping contract has the same basic structure:
- One pickup location — usually an industrial area, port, or warehouse.
- 1 to 7 delivery locations — shops, gas stations, or commercial areas around the city.
- A cargo type and weight class — these affect how much you get paid.
How to Complete a Contract
- Choose a contract from the board.
- Drive to the pickup location and press E to load the cargo.
- Drive to each delivery location.
- Get out of the vehicle at each stop and press E to confirm the delivery (this takes about 10 seconds on foot).
- Repeat until all deliveries are done.
Cancelling a contract with /cancelshipping means you get no pay for any deliveries you already made. Only cancel if you really need to.
Cargo & Pay
Shipping contract pay is calculated using a formula. The base pay starts at $150, plus $120 per delivery stop, plus a distance bonus. That total is then multiplied by the cargo type and weight class.
Weight Multipliers
| Weight Class | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Light | x1.0 |
| Medium | x1.2 |
| Heavy | x1.5 |
Cargo types range from x0.85 (Textiles) to x1.35 (Pharmaceuticals, Medical Supplies). Long routes that cover over 8000 distance units also receive a 10% bonus on top of everything.
Company Cut
Your company owner sets a cut between 0% and 50%. That percentage goes to the company fund. The rest goes straight into your pocket as cash. If the cut is set to 0%, you keep everything.
Look for contracts with heavy cargo and multiple delivery stops. A heavy contract with 7 stops on a long route will pay significantly more than a light contract with 2 stops nearby.
Uber Driving
Uber works entirely through the phone app. There are no slash commands involved. Open your phone, tap the Uber Driver app, and you are in business.
As an Uber driver, you can accept rides from NPCs (generated by the system) or from real players who request pickups. Both types earn you money based on the distance of the trip.
Going Online
The first time you open the Uber Driver app, you will need to register as a driver. After that, tap Go Online to start accepting rides.
There are two requirements to go online:
- You must be in a vehicle with at least 3 seats (so passengers can actually ride with you).
- You must not be banned from the platform.
Once you are online, you will start receiving ride offers. You stay online until you choose to go offline or exit your vehicle.
NPC Jobs
Tap Find NPC Jobs in the driver app. The system will start generating random NPC pickup and dropoff offers for you. Each offer pops up for 10 seconds — accept it or it disappears.
- NPC rides pay 80% of the calculated fare.
- If you pick up multiple NPC passengers, you get a 30% bonus per extra passenger.
- New offers appear automatically every 3 to 8 seconds after you decline or complete one.
NPC jobs are a great way to earn steady money without waiting for real players to request rides. The offers keep coming as long as you are online.
NPC jobs with multiple passengers are worth grabbing. The 30% bonus per extra passenger adds up quickly and makes short trips more profitable.
Player Rides
When a real player requests a ride through the Uber Rider app, the system finds the nearest online driver within 2000 units. That driver gets the offer first.
- You have 30 seconds to accept or decline a player ride request.
- If you decline, the offer goes to the next nearest driver.
- Once you accept, drive to the pickup location.
- Wait for the rider to get in your vehicle.
- Drive to the destination. The fare is handled automatically.
Player rides pay the full fare (not the 80% NPC rate), so they are more profitable when available.
Fares & Surge
The fare for every ride is calculated using a simple formula:
Fare Calculation
- Base fare: $8
- Distance rate: $3 per 100 distance units
- Minimum fare: $12 (even for very short trips)
- Surge multiplier: applied on top of the calculated fare
Surge Pricing
Surge pricing updates every 30 seconds based on supply and demand:
- When demand exceeds supply (lots of ride requests, few drivers), surge increases.
- When drivers are plentiful, surge stays at 1.0x (no bonus).
- The maximum surge is 3.0x, meaning your fare could triple during peak times.
Keep an eye on the surge multiplier in the app. Driving during high-surge periods can dramatically increase your earnings per trip.
Ratings & Bans
After each ride, the rider rates you between 1 and 5 stars. Your rating is a running average of all the ratings you have received. New drivers start with a clean 5.0 stars.
If your average rating drops below 3.0 stars and you have at least 5 total ratings, you are automatically banned from driving for 7 days. Drive carefully and be polite to your passengers.
After a ban expires, you can request reinstatement through the app. This resets your rating back to 5.0 stars, giving you a fresh start. However, if your rating drops below 3.0 again, you will be banned again for another 7 days.
Safe driving and taking direct routes are the easiest ways to keep your rating high. Avoid crashing, going the wrong way, or taking unnecessary detours.
Uber Rider
If you need a ride instead of giving one, open the Uber Rider app on your phone and set a destination. The system will search for the nearest available driver within 2000 units.
- If no driver is found within 90 seconds, the request is automatically cancelled.
- You can cancel anytime before the driver arrives.
- Once matched, you will see the driver's name, vehicle, rating, and total rides.
- You get a notification when the driver is close to your location.
- Get in the driver's vehicle and ride to your destination.
- The fare is automatically deducted from your cash.
- After the ride, you rate the driver between 1 and 5 stars.
Make sure you have enough cash on hand to cover the fare. The payment comes from your pocket, not your bank account. Check the estimated fare before requesting if you are running low.
